This Is Why Mrs Brown Has Been Recast In The New Paddington Film

Paddington is back for a whole new adventure and we couldn’t be more excited! The beloved duffle coat-wearing bear is set to return to the big screen on 8 November with the highly anticipated film, Paddington In Peru.

The new trailer for the movie promises an even more thrilling and heartwarming adventure for Paddington and the Brown family. This time, they embark on a journey to Peru to visit Paddington’s dear Aunt Lucy, who now resides in the charmingly named Home for Retired Bears.

However, things take an unexpected turn when they arrive in Peru and Aunt Lucy is nowhere to be found. This leads to an exciting and wild adventure into the Amazon rainforest to bring her back home.

Fans of the first two Paddington movies, and let’s be honest, who isn’t a fan, are eagerly awaiting the release of this third installment. The first movie was a huge hit and the sequel, Paddington 2, was even better, earning critical acclaim and becoming a cinematic masterpiece.

But while we are all excited for this new adventure, there is one beloved star of the franchise who will not be returning. Sally Hawkins, who played Mrs. Brown in the first two films, will not be reprising her role. Instead, she will be replaced by the talented Emily Mortimer, known for her work in Mary Poppins Returns, Hugo, and the BBC adaptation of Little Women.

Before fans start to speculate, let us assure you that there is no controversy behind this casting change. It simply seemed like the right time for Hawkins to step back from the Paddington films. In a statement to Variety last year, she shared, “For me, it has felt like the right time to hand the reins over to another, and one can’t get much better than the truly wonderful Emily Mortimer. She is extraordinarily special and will embody the essence of Mary Brown while making it her own.”

Hawkins also expressed her love for the world of Paddington and how much she will miss her on and off-screen family. She described the experience of making the first two films as some of the best and most creative times she has had in the world of film. She added, “They both gave me so much joy and I will forever hold them close to my heart.”

While we will certainly miss Hawkins on this adventure, we are excited to see Mortimer take on the role of Mrs. Brown. And we are not the only ones! The new movie will also feature some new faces, including the talented Olivia Colman, Rachel Zegler, and Antonio Banderas.

Thankfully, Dame Julie Walters will be back as the Browns’ housekeeper, Mrs. Bird. And with Dougal Wilson taking over as director, we can expect the same level of heartwarming and charming storytelling that we have come to love from the Paddington movies.

So, mark your calendars and get ready for an exciting adventure with our favorite bear and the Brown family. Paddington In Peru promises to be a delightful and heartwarming film that will leave you with a big smile on your face. Don’t forget to bring along some marmalade sandwiches for the ride!
