Shirley Ballas, the beloved judge of Strictly Come Dancing, has once again found herself at the center of controversy after giving a low score to La Voix during last week’s live show. However, she is standing firm and has some words of advice for the drag queen.
La Voix, a finalist on Drag Race UK, received the lowest ever marks for a week four performance, with Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, and Anton Du Beke giving her a score of three, four, and five respectively. But it was Shirley who grabbed the attention of viewers by reaching for her two paddle.
This decision has not been received well by some Strictly fans, who felt that Shirley was too harsh on La Voix. In a recent interview with Attitude, Shirley had some words of advice for the drag queen, saying, “Remember your choreography, love. I love you, but remember your choreography.”
Even Craig, known for his harsh critiques, admitted that Shirley had been “a bit rough” on La Voix. He said, “My jaw was dropping. I thought it was at least worth a three. I did feel for La Voix because it sort of went horribly wrong from the moment she set off on the stage. Apparently, she had a fantastic rehearsal.”
La Voix, who attended the Pride Of Britain awards out of drag on Monday, joked about the incident, saying, “La Voix is not here, sadly. She’s still furious about Saturday night, with Shirley Ballas giving her a two, she’s refusing to even show face.”
But despite the low score, La Voix managed to avoid the dreaded dance-off, thanks to the support of the public. In the end, it was Chris Robshaw who was sent home after winding up in the bottom two alongside Balvinder Sopal, with Craig casting the deciding vote.
This season of Strictly Come Dancing has introduced a new twist, with different members of the panel having the chance to break a tie each week. In previous years, this responsibility was solely in the hands of the Head Judge. This change has caused some controversy, with some viewers questioning the fairness of the new system.
But despite the drama, Strictly Come Dancing continues to be a beloved show, with millions of viewers tuning in each week to watch the celebrities and their professional partners dance their hearts out. The show has been a source of joy and entertainment for many, especially during these difficult times.
And while there may be disagreements and controversies among the judges, it’s clear that they all have a deep love and passion for dancing. As Shirley herself said, “I love you, but remember your choreography.” It’s a reminder that despite the scores and critiques, the judges are rooting for each and every contestant to do their best and improve week after week.
So, let’s continue to support all the contestants and their efforts on the dance floor. And as Shirley and the other judges continue to guide and encourage them, let’s also remember to enjoy the show and appreciate the hard work and dedication that goes into each performance.
Strictly Come Dancing will be back on our screens this Saturday at 6:20 pm on BBC One. Let’s tune in and continue to be amazed by the incredible talent on display. And who knows, maybe La Voix will surprise us all and come back stronger than ever. After all, as they say, “the show must go on!”
