Another MP Quits Your Party As Split In Corbyn’s Left-Wing Group Deepens

Former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has been making headlines once again, this time as a co-founder of the new left-wing Your Party. However, the chaos within the fledgling group has deepened as another independent MP has announced their resignation.

On Friday, Iqbal Mohamed announced that he would be quitting the new party and returning to serving as an independent Member of Parliament for Dewsbury and Batley. In his statement, he cited the numerous false allegations and smears made against him and others within the party, which have been reported as fact without evidence.

Despite this setback, Mohamed remains hopeful that Your Party will continue to be a genuine and inclusive force for positive change. He also reaffirmed his commitment to working with his colleagues in the Independent Alliance.

This recent development comes after Mohamed was criticized by the party’s co-founder, former Labour MP Zarah Sultana, for his gender-critical social media posts. Sultana, who believes that being pro-trans is non-negotiable, clashed with Mohamed who stated that women’s rights must not be taken away.

In a post on social media, Mohamed urged people not to blame Corbyn for the faults of the Left and to ensure that he is not replaced by someone who is selfish and power-hungry. His resignation comes just days before Your Party’s first-ever conference in Liverpool on November 29-30.

Mohamed is now the second independent MP to quit Your Party, following Adnan Hussain, the MP for Blackburn, who resigned on November 14. This leaves the party with only four MPs – Corbyn, Sultana, Shockat Adam, and Ayoub Khan, all of whom campaigned on a pro-Palestine platform in 2024.

Unfortunately, political infighting has dominated Your Party since its announcement in August, despite the initial support and public interest in the left-wing group. In September, Sultana openly criticized Your Party as a “sexist boys club” and even set up an online portal for the public to become paid-up members, which was later taken down.

In his resignation statement, Mohamed claims that Sultana voluntarily left the Independent Alliance and Your Party stewarding group back in September. Now, it seems that Sultana and Corbyn are locked in a leadership battle, both trying to win over the party and become the dominant figurehead. In fact, they have even gone as far as hosting separate pre-conference rallies.

Despite these recent setbacks, Your Party is determined to move forward and stand for their beliefs. The party has attracted a substantial amount of public interest, and their pro-Palestine stance has resonated with many.

However, as with any new and growing organization, there are bound to be challenges, disagreements, and hurdles to overcome. But Your Party remains steadfast in their goal to bring about positive change and create a more inclusive society.

This is not the first time that Corbyn has faced criticism and opposition within his own party. But as a seasoned politician and a co-founder of Your Party, he is no stranger to adversity. With his vast experience and unwavering dedication, Corbyn is sure to steer Your Party in the right direction.

The recent events within Your Party may have caused some hand-wringing among the Labour left, but it’s clear that the party stands strong in their beliefs and determination to bring about real change.

In a time where political divisions seem to be growing wider, Your Party offers a glimmer of hope for those who believe in a more equal and inclusive society. With the upcoming conference, Your Party has the opportunity to showcase their vision and unite as a strong force for positive change.

In the end, there’s no denying that Your Party is still in its infancy and has a lot to learn and improve upon. However, with the dedication and drive of its members, especially Corbyn, Sultana, and Mohamed, Your Party has the potential to become a powerful and influential political force in the future.

Let’s not allow the internal struggles of Your Party to overshadow the bigger picture – the need for a progressive and inclusive political movement. We must continue to support and stand by Your Party, for the betterment of society and our country.
