Kim Kardashian has been making headlines once again, but this time it’s not for her fashion choices or her latest business venture. The reality TV mogul has recently revealed that she believes in a conspiracy theory that has been around for decades – the 1969 moon landing was faked.
In a recent episode of “The Kardashians,” Kim is seen on the set of her upcoming Hulu legal drama, “All’s Fair,” trying to convince her co-star, Sarah Paulson, to also become a believer in the moon landing hoax. “I’m sending you, so far, a million articles with both Buzz Aldrin and… the other one,” Kim tells Paulson, with “the other one” being Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the moon.
Paulson expresses interest in the topic, and Kim proceeds to read an interview with Aldrin where he was asked about the scariest moment of the moon expedition. “And [Aldrin] goes, ‘There was no scary moment, cause it didn’t happen. It could’ve been scary, but it wasn’t, cause it didn’t happen,'” Kim explains to Paulson.
She then points out that the 95-year-old Aldrin “has gotten old and now he like, slurs, so I think it didn’t happen.” Kim vows to go on a “massive deep dive” about the supposed moon landing hoax.
Later on, a producer visits Kim’s trailer and asks her if she is serious about her moon landing hoax suspicions. “I don’t think we did. I think it was fake,” she confidently states. “I’ve seen a few videos on Buzz Aldrin talking about how it didn’t happen. He says it all the time now, in interviews. Maybe we should find Buzz Aldrin.”
Kim even suggests that Aldrin could debate the issue on her sister Khloe Kardashian’s podcast. She also points out other aspects of the landing that make her skeptical, such as the lack of stars in photos and the flag appearing to be blowing in the wind.
“I know people are going to say I’m crazy, but go to TikTok and see for yourself!” Kim exclaims, predicting the reaction she will receive from the public.
HuffPost reached out to Aldrin for a comment, but no one immediately responded. However, a 2022 Fact Check article by Reuters notes that moon landing skeptics often cite a 2000 interview where Aldrin explains that the TV footage of the astronauts on the moon was animated because there was no television on the moon and no one taking the picture. However, NASA footage confirms the presence of Aldrin and Armstrong on the moon.
This is not the first time that Kim has expressed her doubts about the moon landing. In a 2019 interview with Vogue Arabia, she mentioned that she was “really into conspiracy theories” and that she had watched a documentary about the moon landing being faked.
While it may seem surprising that someone as influential as Kim Kardashian would believe in such a widely debunked theory, it is important to remember that everyone is entitled to their own beliefs and opinions. However, it is also important to fact-check and critically analyze information before spreading it to others.
Despite the backlash and criticism that Kim may receive for her beliefs, she remains steadfast in her conviction. And in true Kardashian fashion, she is not afraid to speak her mind and stand by her beliefs, no matter how controversial they may be.
In the end, whether or not the moon landing was faked is still up for debate. But one thing is for sure, Kim Kardashian’s belief in the conspiracy theory has sparked a conversation and brought attention to a topic that has been debated for decades. And who knows, maybe one day we will finally have a definitive answer to the question – did we really land on the moon in 1969?
