During the 2016 presidential election, Trump willingly accepted and used Russian assistance, even though he knew it was coming from a hostile foreign power. This raises questions about his motives and loyalties.
Trump’s actions and statements have also caused concern among America’s traditional allies in Western Europe. They see the conflict in Ukraine as a potential preview of what could happen to their own countries if they were to face aggression from Russia. Trump’s recent visit to the Munich Security Conference, where he skipped a meeting to discuss Ukraine with traditional U.S. allies, and instead met with pro-Russia leaders in Hungary and Slovakia, has raised eyebrows and caused worry among European leaders.
It’s clear that Trump’s approach towards Russia and Ukraine is not only damaging to the region but also to America’s relationships with its allies.
