Among those under investigation are also two individuals residing in the populous town of Teano and in the Agro Caleno area. They are among the 30 people under investigation by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Santa Maria Capua Vetere in connection with a scheme involving false invoices worth several million euros. In recent days, public prosecutors Mariangela Condello and Simona Faga served the suspects with the notice of conclusion of the preliminary investigations. The investigation conducted by the Guardia di Finanza of Mondragone, carried out through financial investigations as well as telephone interceptions, uncovered several acts considered unlawful by the investigators. In particular, all of them allegedly made use of invoices and other documents relating to non-existent transactions issued by shell companies—that is, companies existing only on paper—reporting fictitious deductible expenses, in addition to VAT, in their annual tax returns in order to evade taxes.
